I have learned a lot of lessons while writing these books. Among them, is just how much work goes into publishing even the easiest novels. Amazon’s KDP is supposed to be easy. I suppose it is if you don’t care what the cover of your book looks like, or have page numbers, or if blank pages get introduced to your manuscript in arbitrary places.

It took me almost an entire week to just iron out stupid details like getting the page numbers that Amazon shows in the final print preview to match the page numbers in the Amazon templates I had formatted my manuscripts to. And then, being a photographer, I wanted to use my own pictures. I must have spent 20 hours trying to get the layout to fit what I shot. Ultimately, I reshot The Green Ring just so that I could get it to fit one of their layouts. Here’s one of the covers that I rejected as the text just wouldn’t appear correctly. For one thing, the faberic was too busy.
